We’d be grateful for your support and input. You can help us in a number of ways:
Survey your neighborhood
In order for us to be informed of the current status of the wired infrastructure in Newton, we plan to organize a group of neighborhood surveys. We’ll be asking interested residents to document the situation on specified blocks in terms of the following types of issues:
- Doubled poles and/or leaning poles
- Excess coils of cable wire
- Low-hanging wires
- Known undergrounding to individual properties or under public streets
If you’d like to be part of a neighborhood survey team, please send your name, address and zip code to undergrounding@newtonma.gov and we’ll get back to you with plans and assignments.
Send us your comments, questions, and ideas
Let us know what you think of our mission. Do you support it or not? Do you have a question about wiring you’d like us to answer? If we can’t answer it, we’ll put it in Questions Seeking Answers for others to respond to. Do you have some suggestions about how we could expedite undergrounding? Have you had any good or bad experiences dealing with wiring in your neighborhood? Do you have an opinion about how areas for undergrounding should be selected?
Send your responses to undergrounding@newtonma.gov

Help with some research
If you haven't already done so, have a look at Questions seeking answers. If you’ve got the time, we can use the help. Send a message to undergrounding@newtonma.gov, letting us know what you want to work on and we’ll provide whatever contacts or resources we have that we think would be useful.

Join our mailing list
From time to time, we may be holding public hearings, neighborhood meetings, or seeking a show of support for a project. Or we may know of a hearing or event at the state level that impacts our efforts. If you put your name on our mailing list, we’ll notify you of these events.
